The three most popular types of stone used in the memorial
trade are Granite , Limestone and Marble.
GRANITE
Polished granite is the most commonly used stone nowadays,
it is extremely hardwearing with little or no maintenance.
It comes in a wide range of colours, the most popular of these
colours are Black, Blue Pearl, C-Blue, Paradiso, Balmoral
Red and Wicklow. The one thing to think of when chooseing
one of the coloured granites is that it is impossible to match
exactly the headstone, bases, kerbs and corner posts. We at
O' SULLIVAN MEMORIALS do our utmost to match these products
as near as is humanly possible. Black granite is the easiest
type of stone to match.

LIMESTONE
Kilkenny Limestone is used quite a lot in older graveyards
as it blends in with the natural surroundings. It is also
used a lot as bases for granite headstones this way it reduces
the price of the finished job quite considerably.It is blue
grey in colour but is quite porous and does get dirty after
a period of time, but can be cleaned .

MARBLE
Nowadays marble isn't used so much for headstones but is used
for smaller plaques on graves it comes in a variety of colours,
the most commonly used in the memorial trade is white. Like
limestone it is quite porous and does get dirty after a period
of time but can be cleaned.
